Tendonitis versus Gout
by: Kerri Knox, RN- The Immune Queen!

Your doctors should not be confusing tendonitis with gout, they are very different. Gout is pain with the joint becoming warm to the touch, reddened and swollen.

Tendonitis is not: warm to the touch, reddened or swollen. It's simply painful. While you could have got the tendonitis (if it is that) from the Quinolones, the high uric acid could be just 'incidental' and not related and not a cause of your pain. But if your doctor considered doing a uric acid level, it's likely that he though the joint resembled gout in that it was likely to be warm, reddened and/or swollen. If that is the case, it's VERY unlikely to be Quinolone related and having taken the Quinolone before you got ankle pain was 'incidental' and unrelated.
