Paradoxical Reaction to Anesthesia

by Scott
(Texas)

I had my lungs collapse and it required surgery to repair. When the hospital put me "under" I immediately became combative and began to fight the medical professionals. I have no memory of these events but I was told by the doctors that performed the surgery that while my lung was removed from my body that I physically fought them for the entire four hour surgery.

They have stated that they don't know what it's caused by but every time I am put "under" it happens. As a child I remember that the trips to the dentists was horrible because what they would give me to "knock me out" never worked.

That still happens to this day, for me it's scary because I don't want to hurt anyone while this is happening. I have been told that I can't be hypnotized and wonder if the two have anything to do with the other.
