Is Cipro Damage Reversible?

I took cipro 500 mg for 7 days twice daily in Aug 2011. By November I started having joint pain in my knees, hips, neck, ankles. In February 2012, I spontaneously suffered severe tendonitis to my right wrist and thumb. 2 weeks ago, in July 2012...I spontaneoiusly began to feel extreme tightness in my right knee..which led to my kneecap moving and popping and causing extreme pain and mobility problems, now can barely walk, or straighten my knee...

And this week....both ankles are beginning to feel tight and inflexible. Ive been in PT for my wrist since March 2012...and still have pain and usage problems...its not better.

I am terrified I am going to eventually be unable to walk...I was a very healthy 57 year old when this all began. Eat well..vegetarian, raw food...not overweight, no smoking or drinking or drug use...walked for exercise so as to not hurt joints...now, with all Ive done, I feel like Im going to be totally disabled and unable to walk....I made the one mistake of not researching cipro before I took it...and now it feels as if my tendons are disconnecting one by one..

My questions:
..is this damage reversible...and what can be done to fix cipro damaged tendons..and...is there a doctor who acknowledges this and treats people like me?

I so appreciate any suggestions or info...cipro has completely ruined my life and the lives of countless of others...there must be something we can do...

Damage from Cipro Can Be Reversible
by: Kerri Knox, Registered Nurse

So, I just want to assure you that damage from Cipro CAN be reversible. It may not be EASY to reverse, since it will take effort and some major lifestyle changes on your part, but I believe that nearly everyone can improve if they change their lifestyle and improve their nutrition appropriately, as well as modifying the REASON that they got Levaquin Tendonitis in the first place.

So, my suggestion for your next step would be to get my book The Levaquin Tendonitis Solution and follow the protocol that I outline. I believe that it is your best chance to reverse the damage and get back on the road to recovery.

As far as doctors that will help, they ARE out there, but they are few and far between, and even fewer who acknowledge it and are willing to help have studied it to the point that they are knowledgeable about how to help anyway. Unfortunately, since this problem is not recognized in the medical community, almost no one gets any training on how to help people recover, since that would be an admission that Cipro causes this damage. An admission that the mainstream medical community has not made yet.

Yes, it is reversible

I have a very similar sounding experience to yours with Cipro. I was unable to walk or lift anything for 6-8 months, however, with repeated prolotherapy sessions I am now back to work again - as a chef. On my feet and carrying heaving loads. I still have some pain in my feet and knees, occasionally the elbow, but it is bearable and I haven't finished with my prolo sessions yet. I aim to beat it completely.

EXTREMELY WORRIED
by: YVONNE LEPIANE

I took Cipro for 6 days, twice a day ordered by the Hospital doctors when in for Kidney infection on Sept. 1. Two weeks later was carried off the tennis court with a tendon tear in my right hip. Since then have had several other similar pulls in my thigh and knee. I have trouble walking and yesterday, experienced an ankle sprain without even twisting it.

I have signs of nerve damage and have horrible nights of nerve pain all over my body which then results in a feeling like I am on a vibrator for hours on end. I have an appointment with a Physical Therapist on Monday, but am scared to death the activity will only make things worse. Don't know what to do. I was a very healthy 81 year old, never took any kind of medication before.

I Have a friend who had permanent damage to her foot seven years ago and walks with a cane ever since after taking this drug by a different name for a sinus infection. Also have two other friends who are suffering with recurrent C-diff infections after being on Cipro.

Something has to be done about this drug being prescribed. I have 4-/12 months to look forward to many more dissabilities as the warnings say six months for your system to be affected by this drug. God help us all. My guess is that this drug has caused many thousands more injuries but people do not make the connection when it happens much later after being off the drug.
