Another paradoxical reaction to Benedryl

I've been having allergy issues lately so I'd take two to three benedryl tablets to help allievate the allergies and to help me fall asleep but lately they've been having the opposite effect.

My allergies get worse and then I get more restless than I ever have been before. I am so tired I can't hold my eyes open but only get whats called "micro sleep;" that is when a person falls asleep for only seconds at a time.

What is the recommended treatment to counter this considering that benedryl is EXACTLY what is given to people with a paradoxical reaction?!?!
