CoQ10 Side Effects
What Side Effects…

What is Coenzyme Q10

CoQ10 Side Effects are almost nonexistent in the dozens of studies that have been performed. There does not seem to be a nutritional supplement that could be much safer or be better tolerated. CoQ10, also called:

  • Coenzyme Q10
  • Ubiquinol
  • Ubiquinone

is a nutrient with two distinct functions in the body. One function is that of an antioxidant; the other is as THE major energy producer inside each and every cell in the body. As an antioxidant, it can help decrease the number of 'free radicals' in the body thus decreasing the effects of aging.

As an energy producer, however, you can't live very well without Coenzyme Q10. Diseases where Coenzyme Q10 are severely deficient are called Mitochondrial Diseases, and people who suffer from these diseases are extremely weak- often to the point of being in a wheelchair- and have profound fatigue. Other people with milder coenzyme q10 deficiencies may be suffering from:

CoQ10 Side Effects

In study after study, Coenzyme Q10 side effects were almost nonexistent. Except for a few cases of nausea or gastrointestinal distress that resolved on their own, studies said that Coenzyme Q10 is:

These studies are impressive in that there were virtually no CoQ10 Side Effects in ANY study. And with doses for heart failure at approximately 100 to 200 milligrams per day, there were still no recorded Side Effects at dosages up to 2000 milligrams per day- or 10 Times the dosages that were used in studies of heart failure!

Alternatives to CoQ10

Since there are virtually no CoQ10 Side Effects to speak of, there is no reason to have an alternative except for cost. If you are looking to use Coenzyme Q10 for its antioxidant properties, there are scores of antioxidants to choose from.

Alpha Lipoic Acid is sometimes called the "Master Antioxidant" and is more cost effective than Coenzyme Q10. But other antioxidants all have their pros and cons, as well.

You will have to do your own research to see if any of these are equivalent to Coenzyme Q10 for the purposes you are looking for. But if you are using Coenzyme Q10 for its benefits to the Mitochondrial energy cycle or you have a Mitochondrial Disease, then there is simply no substitute for Coenzyme Q10 Supplements.

Which are Coenzyme Q10 formulations all interchangeable with each other- ubiquinol and ubiquinone are more 'bioavailable' and, therefore, better absorbed unless you specifically get High Absorption CoQ10 Supplements. And all have the same safety profile for , which is that they are all extremely safe and well-tolerated.
