I am wired on Benadryl!

I took 50mg of Benadryl to help me sleep when I was working nights. I am a nurse and at the time I worked night many times I gave my patients Benadryl to help them sleep.

When I took it it did the complete opposite! It wired me! I could not stay still. I just wanted to do jumping jacks! It finally wore off. I actually tried taking it again to help me sleep but took only 25mg thinking maybe the dose was too high before.

The same thing happened. I told my doctor years later and she explained the phenomena of the paradoxical reaction and said it was definitely an "allergy" to Benadryl. I would have to agree with her!
