Fibromyalgia is Worse After Taking Levaquin

I am at my wits' end! I took a full 10 days of levaquin. I didn't have a shoulder problem beforehand. I swim laps on a regular basis and as soon as my bronchitis was better, I began to swim again. After the 2nd day of swimming, I noticed shoulder pain. That was a week ago. I now can't raise my arm to get clothes off of hangers, get dishes out of cabinets and have shooting, jabbing pain all night that keeps me awake. The pain was so diffuse that I couldn't tell where it was coming from. It entails my shoulder, muscles and sharp, electric pains radiate down my arm. I can't even touch the tricep/bicep muscles they are so tender.

I'm furious that there are drugs like this on the market. I know contacting the FDA is a joke because I have tried that with another drug a family reacted severely to and they weren't interested. I already have Fibromyalgia Syndrome. I can barely keep my eyes open, am weak, and lethargic. The fibro has gotten so much worse and I feel like I have flu symptoms from head to toe! In fact, it's safe to say that I have increasing symptoms widespread each day! Am due to have knee surgery and if this keeps up, I will have to postpone for the 2nd time. HELP!

Underlying problem that caused fibromyalgia in the first place
by: Kerri Knox, The Immune System Queen

Hi Linda,

I'm so sorry to hear about your issues. Unfortunately, it's my belief that whatever caused you to have Fibromyalgia in the first place is probably what made you susceptible to the toxic effects of the Levaquin in the first place.

So, in order to reverse these effects, you need to start changing the ecology of your body and reverse the problems that allowed you to get both fibromyalgia and the toxic effects of the Levaquin before you can start getting better.

So, my suggestion would be to get my book The Levaquin Tendonitis Solution and start following the protocol that I have outlined in the book. It's a comprehensive program that would help with both the Fibromyalgia and the toxic effects of the Levaquin on many different levels in your body.

I hope this helps and that you get relief from your symptoms.

Thanks so much for your input! I, too, was a nurse before becoming a teacher, so it was no surprise to me that after a MVA in 1997, my diagnosis of exclusion was fibromyalgia. The accident involved the other driver dying. Both cars required jaws of life for extraction. My fibromyalgia developed within about 9 months and worsened with each passing year. There is nothing organic involved with the inital diagnosis.

The trauma of the accident, coupled with 8 surgeries has contributed to the development of this condition. The levaquin certainly enhanced an already horrible situation.

I now have had yet another reaction to plaquenil, which has been prescribed for a rheumatoid disorder that I have recently been diagnosed with, postoperatively. I repeatedly told the rheumatologist about the levaquin reaction. She is now doing a lot of CYA and rather than admit her actions in prescribing caused a tendon rupture, she is refusing to prescribe a replacement drug for me! I terminated the relationship. I have terminated quite a few physician relationships in the past 5 years, when it becomes apparent they aren't reading my chart.

My question is...do you think your book would still be beneficial to me? I am having an MRI to help determine whether another surgery is imminent with the elbow tendon..
Thanks again!

p.s. Any readers: please check to make sure your prescriptions are NOT in this class of drugs! Levaquin, particularly, is being considered by the FDA to become a restricted drug. It's still being prescribed at present, though.

Reduce Pain
by: Kerri Knox, RN- The Immune System Queen

Hi Linda,

I truly believe that stopping the body processes that caused you to be susceptible to both the Fibromyalgia diagnosis and the effects of the Quinolone Antibiotics can help at least stop further deterioration and to help reduce the pain that you are experiencing.

Any reduction in pain and any improvement in your tendons could help to get you through the day. It's not going to be a short route to get better, but I believe that you can at least improve your functioning.

Particularly of note in Levaquin Tendonitis Solution would be to note the comments on Adrenal Gland Fatigue as that is one of the common problems in those with Fibromyalgia. And with a major car accident, repeated surgeries, a lot of pain, and drug poisioning from Quinolones, I can almost guarantee that your adrenals are shot and could use some support while you get back on track again.

Hope this helps. There's no quick fix for your issues, but their is 'moving in the right direction'. And that's what the book is designed to help you do.
